So Much More Than Roofing...

This center city 'double wide' row house belongs to one of Philadelphia's premier couples. One a federal judge appointed By Ronald Reagan, the other one of the most successful female artists of our area. As famous as they most certainly are they are truly two of the most engaging and sincerely nice people you will ever meet... and it was a good thing too, as this major project, being so involved, required relocation to alternative living quarters for the duration. As difficult as that kind of inconvenience was on them they handled it with remarkable grace. It was our extreme pleasure to work for them.

The project... so much more than just roofing (new interior ceiling, spray foam insulation, plumbing, patio deck, masonry, painting, etc etc)

The roof was hopelessly leaking and in the process generating mold within the living space. To access the roof required removal of an extremely expensive ipe (epay) wood patio deck, which covered almost the entire roof surface. Further complicating the project was the stair tower structure which served to connect the interior and exterior areas.

Our scope of work included: procuring the necessary permits, careful demolition of the ipe deck which you be saved for reuse, demolition and removal of the roof system, demolition and removal of the stair tower, demolition and removal of (portions of) the interiorceiling and deteriorated framing, framing of the roof and ceiling structure, replacement of all deteriorated roof sheathing, rebuilding of perimiter masonry parapet walls around the roof area, new roof insulation board and membrane sheet roofing, new roof drains and interior drainage lines, spray foam insulation in the ceiling, finishing the ceiling with drywall and paint, new stair tower with electric and plumbing, reinstallation of all ipe decking with new custom made planters.

This incredible tear apart and rebuild project challenged all conventional thinking regarding what can and can't be done inside the tiny streets of center city Philadelphia. Not to mention the living quarters and artists studio inside which contained hundreds of thousands of dollars in furniture and artwork (requiring protection from the elements as the project went on).
